Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
कपीन्निजघ्निरे तत्र शस्त्रैः परमदारुणैः ।
अकम्पनः सुसंक्रुद्धो राक्षसानां चमूपतिः ॥६-५५-२८॥
kapīnnijaghnire tatra śastraiḥ paramadāruṇaiḥ |
akampanaḥ susaṃkruddho rākṣasānāṃ camūpatiḥ ॥6-55-28॥
Translation
There, the Rakshasas killed the monkeys with most terrible weapons. Then, Akampana, the leader of the Rakshasa army, became exceedingly enraged.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वहाँ उन राक्षसों ने अत्यंत भयंकर शस्त्रों से वानरों का वध किया। तब राक्षसों का सेनापति अकम्पन अत्यंत क्रोधित हो गया।
English Commentary
Akampana's fury is set to bring a new turn to the battle. A commander's anger serves as inspiration for his troops and a signal of destruction for the enemy. The use of 'Paramadaruna' (most terrible) weapons indicates that the war has transcended its dignity and reached the level of mass slaughter.

अकम्पन का क्रोध युद्ध में एक नया मोड़ लाने वाला है। एक सेनापति का क्रोध उसकी सेना के लिए प्रेरणा और शत्रु के लिए विनाश का संकेत होता है। 'परमदारुण' शस्त्रों का प्रयोग यह सूचित करता है कि अब युद्ध अपनी गरिमा खोकर केवल सामूहिक हत्या के स्तर पर पहुँच गया है।
