सो ऽहं दानैश्च मानैश्च सततं पूजितस्त्वया ।
सान्त्वैश्च विविधैः काले किं न कुर्यां प्रियं तव ॥६-५७-१५॥
apradāne punaryuddhaṃ dṛṣṭametattathaiva naḥ |
so'haṃ dānaiśca mānaiśca satataṃ pūjitastvayā ॥6-57-15॥
Translation
If she is not returned, then war is inevitable; this we have clearly seen. That I (am now ready), who has been constantly honored by you with gifts and respect.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(सीता का) दान न करने पर फिर युद्ध ही होगा, यह हम लोगों ने देख ही लिया था। वह मैं (अब तैयार हूँ), जिसका आपने सदैव दान और मान से सत्कार किया है।
English Commentary
Prahasta acknowledges the reality: since peace (returning Sita) was rejected, war is the only outcome. He then pivots to his obligation. Having been the recipient of Ravana's 'dana' (gifts) and 'mana' (honor/respect), he feels a moral debt. This sentiment reflects the feudal bond of loyalty where a warrior must serve his patron in times of crisis, regardless of personal opinion on the politics involved.

प्रहस्त कहता है कि भविष्यवाणी सत्य सिद्ध हुई—सीता न देने का परिणाम युद्ध ही है। किन्तु अब वह पुरानी बातों को छोड़कर अपने कर्तव्य पर आता है। वह 'दानैश्च मानैश्च' (दान और सम्मान) को याद करता है जो रावण ने उसे दिए। यह 'नमक का हक' अदा करने का समय है। एक क्षत्रिय और सेवक के रूप में, वह अपने स्वामी के उपकारों का बदला अपने प्राणों से चुकाने को तैयार है।
