उरगध्वजदुर्द्धर्षं सुवरूथं स्वपस्करम् ।
सुवर्णजालसंयुक्तं प्रहसन्तमिव श्रिया ॥६-५७-२७॥
uragadhvajadurdharṣaṃ suvarūthaṃ svaskaram |
suvarṇajālasaṃyuktaṃ prahasantamiva śriyā ॥6-57-27॥
Translation
It was invincible with a serpent-banner, had good fenders and axles, was covered with a golden net, and seemed to be laughing with its splendor.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह (रथ) सर्प-चिह्न वाली ध्वजा से दुर्धर्ष (जिसे हराना कठिन हो) लग रहा था, उसमें अच्छी रक्षा-बाड़ और अच्छे धुरे लगे थे। वह सोने की जाली से युक्त था और अपनी शोभा से मानो हँस रहा था।
English Commentary
The 'uraga-dhvaja' (serpent banner) identifies Prahasta's insignia, symbolizing danger and lethality. The chariot is personified as 'laughing with splendor,' suggesting a mocking arrogance towards the enemy. The gold netting and sturdy construction ('suvarutham' - good fenders/guard rails) highlight both luxury and defensive capability. It represents the height of Rakshasa power before the fall.

प्रहस्त के रथ की ध्वजा पर 'उरग' (सर्प) का चिह्न था, जो उसकी क्रूरता और विषैले स्वभाव का प्रतीक है। रथ इतना सुंदर और सुसज्जित था कि कवि कहता है वह अपनी 'श्री' (शोभा) से हँस रहा था—अर्थात वह इतना चमकदार था कि देखने वाले चकाचौंध हो जाएं। यह युद्ध में जाने वाले योद्धा के आत्मविश्वास और वैभव का मानवीकरण है।
