Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
नदतां राक्षसानां च वानराणां च गर्जताम् ।
उभे प्रमुदिते सैन्ये रक्षोगणवनौकसाम् ॥६-५७-४४॥
nadatāṃ rākṣasānāṃ ca vānarāṇāṃ ca garjatām |
ubhe pramudite sainye rakṣogaṇavanaukasām ॥6-57-44॥
Translation
With Rakshasas roaring and monkeys bellowing, both armies of the Rakshasa troops and forest-dwellers were overjoyed (excited for battle).
हिंदी अनुवाद
नद करते हुए राक्षसों और गर्जना करते हुए वानरों—दोनों ही, राक्षस-समूह और वनवासियों की सेनाएं (युद्ध के उत्साह में) प्रमुदित (हर्षित) थीं।
English Commentary
Both sides reach a fever pitch of excitement ('pramudite'). This 'joy' is the adrenaline of impending combat. The roaring and bellowing act as a release of tension. It highlights the warrior code where the opportunity to fight, regardless of the outcome, is a cause for celebration. The battlefield becomes a stage for this deadly enthusiasm.

युद्ध का विरोधाभास—मृत्यु के मुख में जाते हुए भी योद्धा 'प्रमुदित' (खुश) हैं। यह 'युद्ध-उन्माद' (battle frenzy) है। दोनों पक्ष अपनी-अपनी गर्जनाओं से एक-दूसरे को चुनौती दे रहे थे। राक्षसों का आत्मविश्वास और वानरों का उत्साह टकराने को तैयार था। यहाँ डर का नामोनिशान नहीं है, केवल हिंसक उत्साह है।
