बहवो राक्षसा युद्धे बहून् वानरयूथपान् ।
वानरा राक्षसांश्चापि निजघ्नुर्बहवो बहून् ॥६-५८-११॥
bahavo rākṣasā yuddhe bahūn vānarayūthapān |
vānarā rākṣasāṃścāpi nijaghnurbahavo bahūn ॥6-58-11॥
Translation
In the battle, many Rakshasas killed many Vanara troop-leaders, and many Vanaras likewise slew many Rakshasas.
हिंदी अनुवाद
युद्ध में बहुत से राक्षसों ने बहुत से वानर यूथपतियों को और बहुत से वानरों ने भी बहुत से राक्षसों को मार डाला।
English Commentary
This verse depicts the aspect of war involving heavy loss of life. The repetition of 'Bahuvah Bahun' (many [slaying] many) illustrates the vastness of the carnage. Neither side is retreating, and heroes from both sides are falling in the fray.
हिंदी टीका
यह श्लोक युद्ध के उस पक्ष को दिखाता है जहाँ भारी जनहानि हो रही है। 'बहुवः बहून्' (बहुत ने बहुतों को) शब्दों की पुनरावृत्ति संहार की व्यापकता को दर्शाती है। यहाँ कोई भी पक्ष पीछे नहीं हट रहा है और दोनों ओर से वीरों का पतन हो रहा है।
