आर्तस्वनं च स्वनतां सिंहनादं च नर्दताम् ।
बभूव तुमुलः शब्दो हरीणां रक्षसां युधि ॥६-५८-१७॥
ārtasvanaṃ ca svanatāṃ siṃhanādaṃ ca nardatām |
babhūva tumulaḥ śabdo harīṇāṃ rakṣasāṃ yudhi ॥6-58-17॥
Translation
In the battle, a tumultuous noise arose from the piteous cries of those in pain and the lion-like roars of the heroic Vanaras and Rakshasas.
हिंदी अनुवाद
युद्ध में कराहते हुए योद्धाओं के आर्तनाद और गर्जना करते हुए वीरों के सिंहनाद से वानरों और राक्षसों के बीच अत्यंत तुमुल कोलाहल हुआ।
English Commentary
The battlefield is now a confluence of two opposing sounds—the wailing of the defeated and the roars of the victors. This verse captures the emotional duality of war. The 'tumultuous noise' signifies the chaos where no one can be heard, and only the sound of destruction remains.

रणभूमि अब दो विपरीत ध्वनियों का संगम है—पराजितों का विलाप और विजेताओं का गर्जन। यह श्लोक युद्ध के भावनात्मक द्वंद्व को पकड़ता है। 'तुमुलः शब्दः' उस अशांति को दर्शाता है जहाँ कोई किसी की बात नहीं सुन सकता, केवल संहार का स्वर शेष है।
