Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
क एष सुमहाकायो बलेन महता वृतः ।
आचक्ष्व मे महाबाहो वीर्यवन्तं निशाचरम् ॥६-५८-२॥
ka eṣa sumahākāyo balena mahatā vṛtaḥ |
ācakṣva me mahābāho vīryavantaṃ niśācaram ॥6-58-2॥
Translation
O mighty-armed one! Who is this exceedingly large-bodied and powerful Rakshasa surrounded by a vast army? Tell me about him.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे महाबाहु! विशाल सेना से घिरा हुआ यह अत्यंत विशालकाय और बलवान राक्षस कौन है? मुझे इसके विषय में बताइये।
English Commentary
Shri Rama addresses Vibhishana as 'Mahabaho', showing respect to His ally. He observes Prahasta's immense stature and the scale of his forces. Although Shri Rama is omniscient, in His human play, He honors the knowledge and experience of Vibhishana. This verse highlights the gravity of the battle and the tactical necessity of assessing the enemy's strength.

श्री राम विभीषण को 'महाबाहु' कहकर सम्मानित करते हैं। वे प्रहस्त की विशाल देह और उसकी सेना के विस्तार को देख रहे हैं। यद्यपि श्री राम सर्वज्ञ हैं, किन्तु वे मानवीय लीला में विभीषण के ज्ञान और अनुभव का आदर कर रहे हैं। यह श्लोक युद्ध की गम्भीरता और शत्रु की शक्ति के आकलन की आवश्यकता को रेखांकित करता है।
