Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
राक्षसाः कपिमुख्याश्च तेरुस्तां दुस्तरां नदीम् ।
यथा पद्मरजोध्वस्तां नलिनीं गजयूथपाः ॥६-५८-३३॥
rākṣasāḥ kapimukhyāśca terustāṃ dustarāṃ nadīm |
yathā padmarajodhvastāṃ nalinīṃ gajayūthapāḥ ॥6-58-33॥
Translation
The Rakshasas and leading Vanaras crossed that difficult river just as leaders of elephant herds cross a lotus-pond covered with lotus-pollen.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राक्षसों और मुख्य वानरों ने उस दुस्तर नदी को वैसे ही पार किया जैसे हाथियों के झुण्ड कमलों के पराग से भरी हुई कमलिनी को पार करते हैं।
English Commentary
For the heroes, even this river of blood was like a simple lotus-pond. This reflects their prowess and their firmness toward their objective. Where cowards fear, heroes advance toward their goal without wavering. The elephant analogy reveals the warriors' strength and gravity.

वीरों के लिए यह रक्त-नदी भी एक साधारण कमलिनी के समान थी। यह उनके पराक्रम और उद्देश्य के प्रति दृढ़ता को दिखाता है। जहाँ कायर डरते हैं, वहाँ वीर विचलित हुए बिना अपने लक्ष्य की ओर बढ़ते हैं। यहाँ हाथियों की उपमा योद्धाओं की शक्ति और गम्भीरता को प्रकट करती है।
