Srimad Valmiki Ramayana - Yuddha Kanda - Sarga 58

तस्य बाणगणान् घोरान् राक्षसस्य महाबलः ।
अपारयन् वारयितुं प्रत्यगृह्णान्निमीलितः ॥६-५८-४१॥

tasya bāṇagaṇān ghorān rākṣasasya mahābalaḥ |
apārayan vārayituṃ pratyagṛhrānnimīlitaḥ ॥6-58-41॥

Translation

The mighty Nila, unable to ward off those terrible volleys of arrows from the Rakshasa, received them with his eyes closed.

हिंदी अनुवाद

महाबली नील उन भयंकर बाणों को रोकने में असमर्थ होकर अपनी आँखें मूंदकर उन्हें सहने लगे।

English Commentary

Here, Nila's 'Titiksha' (endurance) is described. When no way to defend remained, he patiently accepted the strikes. Closing his eyes ('Nimilitah') signifies his focus and mental preparation to withstand the severity of the impact.

यहाँ नील की 'तितिक्षा' (सहनशीलता) का वर्णन है। जब बचाव का कोई मार्ग नहीं बचा, तो उन्होंने धैर्यपूर्वक प्रहारों को स्वीकार किया। आँखें मूंदना ('निमीलितः') उनके एकाग्र होने और प्रहार की गम्भीरता को सहने की मानसिक तैयारी को दर्शाता है।
