प्रगृह्य मुसलं घोरं स्यन्दनादवपुप्लुवे ।
तावुभौ वाहिनीमुख्यौ जातवैरौ तरस्विनौ ॥६-५८-४६॥

tāvubhau vāhinīmukhyaū jātavairaū tarasvinaū ॥6-58-46॥
Translation
Then, seizing a terrible club, Prahasta leaped down from his chariot. Both those army-chiefs, who were sworn enemies and extremely swift—

तब भयंकर मूसल लेकर प्रहस्त रथ से नीचे कूद गया। वे दोनों सेनापति, जो एक-दूसरे के कट्टर शत्रु थे और अत्यंत वेगवान थे—
English Commentary
Prahasta adopted the club in place of the bow. Descending from the chariot symbolizes coming to the ground level of battle. The term 'Jatavairau' shows the long-standing enmity between them, which has now reached a life-threatening stage. The combat has become more personal and fierce.

प्रहस्त ने धनुष के स्थान पर मूसल को अपनाया। रथ से उतरना युद्ध के धरातल पर आने का प्रतीक है। 'जातवैरौ' शब्द उनके बीच के उस पुराने द्वेष को दिखाता है जो अब प्राणों के संकट तक पहुँच गया है। युद्ध अब अधिक व्यक्तिगत और उग्र हो गया है।
