Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स्थितौ क्षतजदिग्धाङ्गौ प्रभिन्नाविव कुञ्जरौ ।
उल्लिखन्तौ सुतीक्ष्णाभिर्दंष्ट्राभिरितरेतरम् ॥६-५८-४७॥
sthitau kṣatajadigdhāṅgaū prabhinnāviva kuñjaraū |
ullikhantaū sutīkṣṇābhirdasṃṭrābhiritaretaram ॥6-58-47॥
Translation
With limbs smeared with blood, they stood like two elephants in rut, tearing at each other with their sharp teeth (or weapons).
हिंदी अनुवाद
रक्त से सने अंगों वाले वे दोनों मदमस्त हाथियों के समान खड़े थे और अपने तीखे दांतों (या प्रहारों) से एक-दूसरे को विदीर्ण कर रहे थे।
English Commentary
The metaphor of elephants in rut ('Prabhinna Kunjara') depicts their indomitable rage and power. Despite being blood-soaked, they are not ready to retreat. This shows the stage of hand-to-hand combat where a warrior's own vitality and endurance are tested more than their weapons.
हिंदी टीका
मदमस्त हाथी (प्रभिन्न कुञ्जर) की उपमा उनके अदम्य क्रोध और शक्ति को दर्शाती है। रक्त रंजित होने के बावजूद वे पीछे हटने को तैयार नहीं हैं। यह मल्ल-युद्ध के उस चरण को दिखाता है जहाँ शस्त्रों से अधिक योद्धा की अपनी जीवटता और सहनशक्ति की परीक्षा होती है।
