Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
बिभेद बहुधा घोरा प्रहस्तस्य शिरस्तदा ।
स गतासुर्गतश्रीको गतसत्त्वो गतेन्द्रियः ॥६-५८-५५॥
bibheda bahudhā ghoraṃ prahastasya śirastadā |
sa gatāsu rgatāśrīko gatasattva rgate ndriyaḥ ॥6-58-55॥
Translation
It split Prahasta's terrible head into many pieces. He lost his life, his glory departed, his strength vanished, and his senses became motionless.
हिंदी अनुवाद
प्रहस्त के भयंकर सिर को उसने कई टुकड़ों में विदीर्ण कर दिया। उसके प्राण निकल गए, उसकी शोभा (लक्ष्मी) नष्ट हो गई, उसका बल चला गया और उसकी इन्द्रियाँ निश्चेष्ट हो गईं।
English Commentary
This is the end of Prahasta. Words like 'Gatasuh' (lifeless) and 'Gatashrikah' (devoid of glory) denote his total downfall. For one who supports unrighteousness, his splendor and senses eventually abandon him. This is the ultimate example of the destruction of ego.

यह प्रहस्त का अंत है। 'गतासुः' और 'गताश्रीकः' जैसे शब्द उसके पूर्ण पतन को दर्शाते हैं। जिसने अधर्म का साथ दिया, उसकी शोभा और इन्द्रियाँ अंततः उसका साथ छोड़ देती हैं। यह अहंकार के विनाश का सबसे बड़ा उदाहरण है।
