ततो नगर्याः सहसा महौजा निष्क्रम्य तद्वानरसैन्यमुग्रम् ।
महार्णवाभ्रस्तनितं ददर्शं समुद्यतं पादपशैलहस्तम् ॥६-५९-१०॥
tato nagaryāḥ sahasā mahaujasā niṣkramya tadvānarasainyamugram |
mahārṇavābhrastanitaṃ dadarśa samudyataṃ pādapaśailahastam ॥6-59-10॥
Translation
Then, having suddenly exited the city, that one of great splendor (Ravana) saw that fierce army of monkeys, making a noise like the great ocean and thunderclouds, standing ready with trees and mountains in their hands.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तदनन्तर, उस महातेजस्वी (रावण) ने नगर से सहसा निकलकर, महासागर और मेघों की गर्जना के समान शब्द करने वाली उस उग्र वानर सेना को देखा, जो हाथों में वृक्ष और पर्वत उठाए तैयार थी।
English Commentary
Upon exiting the gates of Lanka, Ravana confronts the reality of the monkey army. The army is described as 'ugram' (fierce) and armed not with conventional weapons but with trees and mountains. It symbolizes the clash between the raw power of nature and demoniac sorcery. Ravana gazes upon the vast multitude ready to challenge him.

लंका के द्वार से निकलते ही रावण का सामना वानर सेना की वास्तविकता से होता है। वानर सेना 'उग्र' है और पारंपरिक हथियारों के बजाय 'पादप' (वृक्ष) और 'शैल' (पर्वत) लिए हुए है। यह प्रकृति की शक्ति बनाम राक्षसी माया का संघर्ष है। रावण की दृष्टि उस विशाल जनसमूह पर पड़ती है जो उसे चुनौती देने के लिए तत्पर है।
