स लक्ष्मणश्चाशु शरान् शिताग्रान् महेन्द्रवज्राशनितुल्यवेगान् ।
सन्धाय चापे ज्वलनप्रकाशान् ससर्ज रक्षोधिपतेर्वधाय ॥६-५९-१०३॥
sandhāya cāpe jvalanaprakāśān sasarja rakṣodhipatervadhāya |
sa tān praciccheda hi rākṣasendraśchittvā ca tāṃllakṣmaṇamājaghāna ॥6-59-103॥
Translation
...fixing them on his bow, which were shining like fire, he released them for the killing of the Lord of Rakshasas. The Lord of Rakshasas cut them down, and having cut them, he struck Lakshmana.
हिंदी अनुवाद
...धनुष पर संधान करके, जो अग्नि के समान प्रकाशमान थे, राक्षसराज के वध के लिए छोड़े। राक्षसराज ने उन्हें काट दिया और उन्हें काटकर लक्ष्मण पर प्रहार किया।
English Commentary
The duel intensifies. Lakshmana aims to kill ('vadhaya') with fire-like arrows. Ravana demonstrates his own defensive prowess by intercepting them and launching a successful counter-strike. The back-and-forth nature of this battle highlights that both are supreme warriors.
हिंदी टीका
लक्ष्मण ने अब 'वधाय' (मारने के लिए) घातक बाण छोड़े जो आग की तरह जल रहे थे। रावण भी कम नहीं था, उसने उन्हें काट दिया और पलटवार किया। यह बराबरी की टक्कर है। 'आजघान' (मारा/चोट पहुंचाई) शब्द बताता है कि रावण का एक वार अंततः लक्ष्मण को लगा।
