Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स तां विधूमानलसन्निकाशां वित्रासिनीं वानरवाहिनीनाम् ।
चिक्षेप शक्तिं तरसाज्वलन्तीं सौमित्रये राक्षसराष्ट्रनाथः ॥६-५९-१०८॥
cikṣepa śaktiṃ tarasājvalantīṃ saumitraye rākṣasarāṣṭranāthaḥ |
tāmāpatantīṃ bharatānujograirjaghāna bāṇaiśca hutāgnikalpaiḥ ॥6-59-108॥
Translation
The Lord of the Rakshasa kingdom hurled that blazing Shakti with speed at the son of Sumitra. The younger brother of Bharata struck that oncoming Shakti with fierce arrows resembling sacrificial fire.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राक्षस राष्ट्र के स्वामी ने वह जलती हुई शक्ति वेग से सुमित्राकुमार पर फेंकी। अपनी ओर आती हुई उस शक्ति को भरत के छोटे भाई (लक्ष्मण) ने अग्नि के समान उग्र बाणों से मारा (रोकने का प्रयास किया)।
English Commentary
Ravana launches the Shakti. Lakshmana attempts to intercept it with fire-like arrows. Referring to Lakshmana as 'Bharatanuja' evokes his lineage and connection to Dharma. His attempt to stop a Brahma-gifted weapon with arrows shows his refusal to accept defeat, even against overwhelming odds.

रावण ने शक्ति चला दी। लक्ष्मण ने हार नहीं मानी। उन्होंने 'हुताग्निकल्पैः' (अग्नि जैसे) बाणों से उस शक्ति को हवा में ही नष्ट करने या रोकने का प्रयास किया। यह लक्ष्मण के साहस को दिखाता है—वे एक अमोघ दिव्य शक्ति को भी अपने पौरुष से चुनौती दे रहे थे।
