Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
हिमवान् मन्दरो मेरुस्त्रैलोक्यं वा सहामरैः ।
शक्यं भुजाभ्यामुद्धर्तु न सङ्ख्ये भरतानुजः ॥६-५९-१११॥
śakyaṃ bhujābhyāmuddhartuṃ na saṃkhye bharatānujaḥ |
śaktyā brāhmacāpi saumitristāditustu stanāntare ॥6-59-111॥
Translation
...but it was not possible to lift the younger brother of Bharata with his arms in battle. Although the son of Sumitra was struck in the chest by the Shakti.
हिंदी अनुवाद
...परंतु युद्ध में (रावण द्वारा) अपनी भुजाओं से भरत के छोटे भाई को उठाना संभव नहीं हुआ। यद्यपि सुमित्राकुमार छाती में शक्ति से आहत थे।
English Commentary
A miraculous event. Ravana fails to lift Lakshmana. Despite being physically incapacitated, Lakshmana becomes immovable. This alludes to his identity as Adisesha (the serpent who holds the universe). While Ravana could lift physical mountains, he could not lift the weight of Dharma embodied in Lakshmana. It symbolizes that sin cannot carry away righteousness.

रावण लक्ष्मण को हिला भी न सका। यद्यपि लक्ष्मण घायल थे, फिर भी वे रावण के लिए अचल हो गए। यह लक्ष्मण का दैवीय स्वरूप है—वे आदिशेष (अनंत) के अवतार हैं जो पृथ्वी को धारण करते हैं। पापी रावण के लिए उनका भार उठाना असंभव था। यह शारीरिक भार नहीं, बल्कि धर्म और सत्व का भार था।
