अनयद्राघवाभ्याशं बाहुभ्यां परिगृह्य तम् ।
वायुसूनोः सुहृत्त्वेन भक्त्या परमया च सः ॥६-५९-११९॥
vāyusūnoḥ suhṛttvena bhaktyā paramayā ca saḥ |
śatrūṇāmaprakampyo'pi laghutvamagamatkapeḥ ॥6-59-119॥
Translation
Due to the friendship and supreme devotion of the son of Vayu, he (Lakshmana), who was immovable to the enemies, became light for the monkey (Hanuman).
हिंदी अनुवाद
वायुपुत्र (हनुमान) की मित्रता और परम भक्ति के कारण, शत्रुओं के लिए जो (लक्ष्मण) हिलाए भी नहीं जा सकते थे, वे उन कपि (हनुमान) के लिए हल्के हो गए।
English Commentary
A profound spiritual insight. Why could Hanuman lift Lakshmana when Ravana couldn't? The answer is 'Bhakti' (devotion) and 'suhrittva' (friendship/good-heartedness). To the enemy (Ravana), the divine is a crushing weight; to the devotee (Hanuman), the divine is a light burden to be carried with love. This contrasts the weight of sin vs. the lightness of love.

यहाँ भक्ति का चमत्कार है। रावण के लिए लक्ष्मण मेरु पर्वत जैसे भारी थे, किन्तु हनुमान के लिए फूल जैसे हल्के ('लघुत्वम्')। कारण? 'सुहृत्त्वेन' (मित्रता) और 'भक्त्या' (भक्ति)। भगवान का भार प्रेम से उठाया जा सकता है, अहंकार से नहीं। यह श्लोक श्री रामायण के दार्शनिक सार को प्रस्तुत करता है।
