एतेन चात्यद्भुतदर्शनानि शरैर्जनस्थानकृतालयानि ।
चतुर्दशान्यात्तवरायुधानि रक्षस्सहस्राणि निषूदितानि ॥६-५९-१३२॥
etena cāpyadbhutadarśanāni śarairjanasthānakṛtālayāni |
caturdaśānyāttavarāyudhāni rakṣaḥsahasrāṇi niṣūditāni ॥6-59-132॥
Translation
And by this (me), fourteen thousand Rakshasas residing in Janasthana, of terrible appearance and armed with excellent weapons, were destroyed with arrows.
हिंदी अनुवाद
और इसी (मुझ) ने जनस्थान में रहने वाले, अद्भुत दिखाई देने वाले और श्रेष्ठ आयुधों को धारण करने वाले चौदह हजार राक्षसों को बाणों से मार डाला था।
English Commentary
Shri Rama reminds Ravana of the Janasthana massacre. Killing 14,000 demons single-handedly was Shri Rama's greatest feat prior to this war. Citing this precedent serves to remind Ravana that numerical superiority or terrifying appearances mean nothing to Shri Rama's arrows.

श्री राम रावण को जनस्थान (दंडकारण्य) के युद्ध की याद दिलाते हैं, जहाँ उन्होंने अकेले खर-दूषण सहित 14,000 राक्षसों का वध किया था। यह 'ट्रेलर' था, अब 'पूरी फिल्म' (रावण वध) बाकी है। यह रावण के मन में भय उत्पन्न करने के लिए ऐतिहासिक प्रमाण है।
