Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्रत्युवाच ततो रामो विभीषणमरिन्दमम् ।
अहो दीप्तो महातेजा रावणो राक्षसेश्वरः ॥६-५९-२६॥
pratyuvāca tato rāmo vibhīṣaṇamariṃdamam |
aho dīpto mahātejā rāvaṇo rākṣaseśvaraḥ ॥6-59-26॥
Translation
Then Shri Rama replied to Vibhishana, the tamer of enemies: 'Oh! Ravana, the Lord of Rakshasas, is glowing and possessed of great splendor.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब श्रीश्री राम ने शत्रुओं का दमन करने वाले विभीषण से कहा—'अहो! यह राक्षसेश्वर रावण दीप्तिमान और महातेजस्वी है।'
English Commentary
Shri Rama is impressed upon seeing Ravana. The word 'Aho' expresses his wonder. Shri Rama does not hesitate to appreciate the qualities of his enemy. He acknowledges Ravana's 'tejas' (splendor), which is the mark of a true warrior—respecting the enemy even while resolving to kill him.

श्रीश्री राम रावण को देखकर प्रभावित होते हैं। 'अहो' शब्द उनके विस्मय को प्रकट करता है। श्री राम शत्रु के गुणों की प्रशंसा करने में संकोच नहीं करते। वे रावण के 'तेज' को स्वीकार करते हैं, जो एक सच्चे वीर का लक्षण है—शत्रु का सम्मान करना, भले ही उसका वध करना हो।
