Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ततो ऽब्रवीन्महातेजा रावणो राक्षसेश्वरः ।
कपे लाघवयुक्तो ऽसि मायया परया ऽनया ॥६-५९-८६॥
na hyasya samare muktā śaktāḥ karmāṇi kartum |
na ca prāṇairviyuyuje pitṛmāhātmyatejasā ॥6-59-86॥
Translation
Indeed, the weapons released in battle were not able to perform their task (of killing him), nor was he separated from his life, due to the greatness and radiance of his father.
हिंदी अनुवाद
युद्ध में छोड़े गए (रावण के) अस्त्र अपना कार्य करने में (उसे मारने में) समर्थ नहीं हुए और पिता के माहात्म्य और तेज के कारण वह प्राणों से वियुक्त नहीं हुआ।
English Commentary
The conclusion of the engagement between Ravana and Nila. Ravana's weapons failed ('na shaktah') to kill. Nila's survival is attributed to divine grace through his father. This highlights a recurring theme in Ramayana: the Avatars and their allies are protected by higher cosmic powers against the sorcery of the Rakshasas.

यह श्लोक नील प्रकरण का समापन करता है। रावण के अस्त्र विफल रहे। इसका श्रेय पूर्णतः 'पितृमाहात्म्य' (पिता अग्नि के प्रभाव) को दिया गया है। नील घायल हुए, झुलसे, परन्तु मरे नहीं। रावण जैसे महायोद्धा के ब्रह्मास्त्र-तुल्य आग्नेयास्त्र से बच निकलना नील की बहुत बड़ी विजय थी।
