जानामि वीर्यं तव राक्षसेन्द्र बलं प्रतापं च पराक्रमं च ।
अवस्थितो ऽहं शरचापपाणिरागच्छ किं मोघविकत्थनेन ॥६-५९-९८॥
avasthito'haṃ śaracāpapāṇirāgaccha kiṃ moghavikatthanena |
sa evamuktaḥ kupitaḥ sasarja rakṣodhipaḥ sapta śarān supuṅkhān ॥6-59-98॥
Translation
I stand here with bow and arrow in hand. Come! What is the use of vain boasting? Addressed thus, the angry Lord of Rakshasas released seven well-feathered arrows.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मैं हाथ में धनुष-बाण लेकर खड़ा हूँ, आओ! व्यर्थ की बकवास से क्या लाभ? ऐसा कहे जाने पर कुपित होकर राक्षसराज ने सात सुंदर पंख वाले बाण छोड़े।
English Commentary
Lakshmana cuts through the rhetoric: 'What is the use of vain boasting?' ('kim mogha-vikatthanena'). He invites the attack. Ravana, provoked, repeats his earlier attack pattern—seven arrows. This repetition shows that Lakshmana has successfully gotten under his skin, forcing him to react impulsively rather than strategically.

लक्ष्मण क्रियान्वयन चाहते हैं, शब्द नहीं। 'आगच्छ' (आओ)—यह सीधी चुनौती है। रावण, जो अपनी आलोचना नहीं सुन सकता, क्रोध में आकर पुनः सात बाण छोड़ता है। रावण की प्रतिक्रिया बार-बार एक जैसी (सात बाण) है, जो उसकी हताशा और रचनात्मकता की कमी को भी दिखा सकती है, या सात की संख्या का कोई तांत्रिक महत्व हो सकता है।
