Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स प्रविश्य पुरीं लङ्कां रामबाणभयार्दितः ।
भग्नदर्पस्तदा राजा बभूव व्यथितेन्द्रियः ॥६-६०-१॥
sa praviśya purīṃ laṅkāṃ rāmabāṇabhayārditaḥ |
bhagnadarpastadā rājā babhūva vyathitendriyaḥ ॥6-60-1॥
Translation
Entering the city of Lanka, tormented by the fear of Shri Rama's arrows, the King (Ravana) had his pride broken and his senses agitated at that time.
हिंदी अनुवाद
श्री राम के बाणों के भय से पीड़ित होकर लंकापुरी में प्रवेश करते हुए, उस समय राजा (रावण) का दर्प चूर हो गया था और उसकी इन्द्रियाँ व्याकुल थीं।
English Commentary
This verse portrays Ravana's psychological state. The conqueror of the three worlds is now trembling with fear of Shri Rama's arrows. The term 'bhagnadarpa' (broken pride) is significant here. War is fought not just with physical strength but with morale. Ravana's ego, which was the source of his confidence, is shattered for the first time. His 'agitated senses' reflect his inner turmoil and the creeping dread of impending defeat.

यह श्लोक रावण की मानसिक स्थिति का चित्रण करता है। जो रावण त्रिलोक विजेता था, आज वह श्रीश्री राम के बाणों के भय से कंपित है। 'भग्नदर्प' (टूटा हुआ घमंड) शब्द यहाँ अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। युद्ध केवल शारीरिक बल का नहीं, बल्कि मनोबल का भी होता है। रावण का अहंकार, जो उसकी शक्ति का स्रोत था, पहली बार खंडित हुआ है। उसकी 'व्यथित इन्द्रियाँ' उसकी आंतरिक उथल-पुथल और आसन्न पराजय के भय को दर्शाती हैं।
