Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
यथोक्तास्तपसा प्राप्तं न मिथ्या ऋषिभाषितम् ।
एतदेवाभ्युपागम्य यत्नं कर्तुमिहार्हथ ॥६-६०-१२॥
yathoktāstapasā prāptaṃ na mithyā ṛṣibhāṣitam |
etadevābhyupāgamya yatnaṃ kartumihārhatha ॥6-60-12॥
Translation
The words of the sages are never false; this danger has befallen me as a result of penance (of those sages, due to my misconduct). Understanding this, you should make efforts here (for my protection).
हिंदी अनुवाद
ऋषियों के वचन कभी झूठे नहीं होते, (मेरे दुराचरण के कारण) यह संकट तपोबल से (फलरूप में) प्राप्त हुआ है। ऐसा समझकर आप लोगों को यहाँ (मेरे रक्षार्थ) यत्न करना चाहिए।
English Commentary
With his ego shattered, Ravana accepts the truth of the sages' words. He tells his ministers that since this calamity is the result of curses and is inevitable, they must strive their utmost for defense. This shows his desperation and final attempt to survive.

अहंकार टूटने पर रावण ऋषिवचनों की सत्यता को स्वीकार करता है। वह अपने मंत्रियों से कहता है कि चूँकि यह संकट ऋषियों के शाप का परिणाम है और अवश्यंभावी है, इसलिए उन्हें रक्षा के लिए पूरा जोर लगाना होगा। यह उसकी हताशा और बचने की अंतिम चेष्टा को दर्शाता है।
