केचिच्छरण्यं शरणं स्म रामं व्रजन्ति केचिद्व्यथिताः पतन्ति ।
केचिद्दिशः स्म व्यथिताः प्रयान्ति केचिद्भयार्ता भुवि शेरते स्म ॥६-६०-९८॥
keciccharaṇyaṃ śaraṇaṃ sma rāmaṃ vrajanti kecidvyathitāḥ patanti |
keciddiśaḥ sma vyathitāḥ prayānti kecidbhayārtā bhuvi śerate sma ॥6-60-98॥
Translation
Some ran for shelter to Shri Rama, the worthy refuge; some fell down distressed. Some fled in different directions in panic, and some, struck by fear, lay down on the ground.

कुछ (वानर) शरण देने योग्य श्री राम की शरण में भागने लगे, कुछ व्यथित होकर गिर पड़े। कुछ घबराकर दिशाओं में भागने लगे और कुछ भय से पीड़ित होकर जमीन पर लेट गए।
English Commentary
Chaos ensues in the Vanara ranks. The reaction is visceral panic. They scatter, faint, or play dead. Running to Shri Rama ('sharanam Ramam') highlights their dependence on him as the only force capable of countering this monster. This scene underscores that Kumbhakarna was not just another warrior; he was a walking nightmare.

वानर सेना में भगदड़ मच गई। कुम्भकर्ण को देखते ही अनुशासन टूट गया। कोई श्री राम के पास भागा, तो कोई डर के मारे बेहोश हो गया। 'भुवि शेरते' (जमीन पर लेट जाना)—कुछ ने मृत होने का नाटक किया या डर से लकवाग्रस्त हो गए। यह वर्णन कुम्भकर्ण के भयानक व्यक्तित्व को स्थापित करता है।
