तमद्रिशृङ्गप्रतिमं किरीटिनं स्पृशन्तमादित्यमिवात्मतेजसा ।
वनौकसः प्रेक्ष्य विवृद्धमद्भुतं भयार्दिता दुद्रुविरे ततस्ततः ॥६-६०-९९॥
tamadriśṛṅgapratimaṃ kirīṭinaṃ spṛśantamādityamivātmatejasā |
vanaukasaḥ prekṣya vivṛddhamadbhutaṃ bhayārditā dudruvire tatastataḥ ॥6-60-99॥
Translation
Seeing that mountain-peak-like, crowned, enormous, and wonderful figure who seemed to touch the sun with his radiance, the monkeys, tormented by fear, fled hither and thither.
हिंदी अनुवाद
पर्वत शिखर के समान, मुकुटधारी, अपने तेज से सूर्य को छूते हुए से उस अद्भुत और विशालकाय (कुम्भकर्ण) को देखकर, वानर भय से पीड़ित होकर इधर-उधर भागने लगे।
English Commentary
The sarga concludes with the awe-inspiring image of Kumbhakarna dominating the skyline. He is 'kiritinam' (crowned) and radiates energy touching the sun. The sight is too much for the Vanaras, who scatter in sheer terror. It sets the stage for the next phase where the leaders must rally the troops against this seemingly invincible giant.

सर्ग का समापन कुम्भकर्ण के विराट स्वरूप के साथ होता है। वह आकाश को छूता हुआ प्रतीत हो रहा था। 'अद्भुतं' शब्द का प्रयोग उसके अलौकिक आकार के लिए किया गया है। वानर सेना का 'ततस्ततः' (इधर-उधर) भागना यह बताता है कि श्री राम को अब अपनी सेना को संभालने के लिए विशेष प्रयास करना होगा।
