तस्य नानद्यमानस्य कुम्भकर्णस्य धीमतः ।
श्रुत्वा ऽतिनादं वित्रस्ता भूयो भूमिर्वितत्रसे ॥६-६१-१६॥
tasya nānadyamānasya kumbhakarṇasya dhīmataḥ |
śrutvā 'tinādaṃ vitrastā bhūyo bhūmirvitatrase ॥6-61-16॥
Translation
Hearing the terrible sound of that intelligent Kumbhakarna as he roared repeatedly, the earth, already terrified, trembled even more.

बार-बार गर्जना करने वाले उस बुद्धिमान कुम्भकर्ण के भीषण शब्द को सुनकर पृथ्वी भयभीत होकर पुनः कांपने लगी।
English Commentary
The use of the epithet 'Dhimatah' (intelligent/wise) for Kumbhakarna might seem surprising, but it points to his strategic understanding. The impact of his roar was so pervasive that even the inanimate earth trembled. This depicts a persona whose sheer force was capable of disrupting the natural balance of the world.

कुम्भकर्ण के लिए यहाँ 'धीमतः' (बुद्धिमान) विशेषण का प्रयोग आश्चर्यजनक लग सकता है, किन्तु यह उसके रणनीतिक ज्ञान की ओर संकेत करता है। उसकी गर्जना का प्रभाव इतना व्यापक था कि जड़ पृथ्वी भी कांप उठी। यह उसके व्यक्तित्व के उस प्रभाव को दर्शाता है जो प्राकृतिक संतुलन को भी बिगाड़ सकता था।
