कुम्भकर्णप्रहारार्तो विजज्वाल स वासवः ।
ततो विषेदुः सहसा देवब्रह्मर्षिदानवाः ॥६-६१-१८॥
kumbhakarṇaprahārārto vijajvāla sa vāsavaḥ |
tato viṣeduḥ sahasā devabrahmarṣidānavāḥ ॥6-61-18॥
Translation
Tormented by Kumbhakarna's blow, Indra felt a burning sensation (or lost his luster). Then the Gods, Brahma-sages, and Danavas suddenly became dejected.
हिंदी अनुवाद
कुम्भकर्ण के उस प्रहार से पीड़ित होकर इन्द्र कांतिहीन हो गए (या जलने लगे)। तब देवता, ब्रह्मर्षि और दानव अचानक अत्यंत दुखी हो गए।
English Commentary
Indra's defeat was a shock to the entire universe. When the protector himself is wounded, the distress of the subjects is natural. The grief of both 'Brahmarshis' and 'Danavas' suggests that Kumbhakarna's terror was so absolute that it shook all components of cosmic order. This represents the peak of demonic unrighteousness.

इन्द्र की पराजय समस्त ब्रह्मांड के लिए एक सदमा थी। जब रक्षक ही आहत हो जाए, तो प्रजा का दुख स्वाभाविक है। 'ब्रह्मर्षि' और 'दानव' दोनों का दुखी होना यह संकेत देता है कि कुम्भकर्ण का आतंक इतना अधिक था कि उसने व्यवस्था के सभी अंगों को हिला दिया था। यहाँ असुर शक्ति का चरम अधर्म दिखाई देता है।
