Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ब्रह्मशापाभिभूतो ऽथ निपपाताग्रतः प्रभोः ।
ततः परमसम्भ्रान्तो रावणो वाक्यमब्रवीत् ॥६-६१-२५॥
brahmaśāpābhibhūto 'tha nipapātāgrataḥ prabhoḥ |
tataḥ paramasambhrānto rāvaṇo vākyamabravīt ॥6-61-25॥
Translation
Overwhelmed by Brahma's curse, he immediately fell down before the Lord. Then, greatly agitated, Ravana spoke these words.
हिंदी अनुवाद
ब्रह्मा जी के शाप से प्रभावित होकर वह तुरंत ब्रह्मा जी के सामने ही गिर पड़ा। तब अत्यंत घबराए हुए रावण ने ये वचन कहे।
English Commentary
The impact of Lord Brahma’s words was instantaneous. Kumbhakarna’s fall symbolizes the temporary cessation of his power. Ravana’s agitation ('sambhrantah') is natural as he had lost his greatest warrior. Both Ravana’s self-interest and his concern for his brother are reflected here. He will now plead to mitigate the severity of the curse.
हिंदी टीका
ब्रह्मा जी की वाणी का प्रभाव तत्काल हुआ। कुम्भकर्ण का गिरना उसकी शक्ति के अस्थायी अंत का प्रतीक है। रावण की घबराहट (सम्भ्रान्तः) स्वाभाविक है क्योंकि उसने अपना सबसे बड़ा योद्धा खो दिया था। यहाँ रावण का स्वार्थ और अपने भाई के प्रति उसकी चिंता दोनों झलकते हैं। वह अब शाप की तीव्रता को कम करने की प्रार्थना करेगा।
