Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
उच्यन्तां वानराः सर्वे यन्त्रमेतत् समुच्छ्रितम् ।
इति विज्ञाय हरयो भविष्यन्तीह निर्भयाः ॥६-६१-३३॥
ucyantāṃ vānarāḥ sarve yantrametat samucchritam |
iti vijñāya harayo bhaviṣyantīha nirbhayāḥ ॥6-61-33॥
Translation
Let all the Vanaras be told that this is just a raised-up 'machine' (or a puppet/effigy). Knowing this, the Vanaras will become fearless here.
हिंदी अनुवाद
आप सभी वानरों से यह कहिये कि यह कोई जीवित प्राणी नहीं, बल्कि एक ऊँचा बनाया गया 'यन्त्र' (पुतला) है। यह जानकर वानर यहाँ निर्भय हो जाएंगे।
English Commentary
Vibhishana suggests an extremely clever psychological tactic. He knows that fear can only be dispelled through wisdom or stratagem. Describing Kumbhakarna as a 'machine' (yantram) would reduce the supernatural terror the Vanaras feel toward him. This is the art of leadership where truth is presented contextually to maintain the army’s morale.

विभीषण यहाँ एक अत्यंत चतुर मनोवैज्ञानिक रणनीति का सुझाव दे रहे हैं। वे जानते हैं कि डर को केवल विवेक या युक्ति से ही दूर किया जा सकता है। कुम्भकर्ण को एक 'यन्त्र' बताना वानरों के मन से उसके प्रति जो अलौकिक भय है, उसे कम कर देगा। यह नेतृत्व की वह कला है जहाँ सत्य को परिस्थिति के अनुसार प्रस्तुत किया जाता है ताकि सेना का मनोबल बना रहे।
