स तु राक्षसशार्दूलो निद्रामदसमाकुलः ।
राजमार्गं श्रिया जुष्टं ययौ विपुलविक्रमः ॥६-६२-१॥
sa tu rākṣasaśārdūlo nidrāmadasamākulaḥ |
rājamārgaṃ śriyā juṣṭaṃ yayau vipulavikramaḥ ॥6-62-1॥
Translation
That tiger among Rakshasas (Kumbhakarna), of immense prowess, though dazed by sleep and intoxication, walked along the royal road adorned with splendor.

नींद और नशे से व्याकुल वह राक्षसशार्दूल (कुम्भकर्ण), जिसका पराक्रम विशाल था, शोभा (श्री) से युक्त राजमार्ग पर चला।
English Commentary
Kumbhakarna walks in a state of grogginess mixed with intoxication ('nidra-mada-samakulah'). Despite this, his sheer presence is overwhelming. The term 'Rakshasashardula' (Tiger among Rakshasas) emphasizes his ferocity and elite status. Walking on the beautifully adorned royal road ('rajamargam'), he represents the raw, chaotic power of the Rakshasas amidst their refined civilization.
