अथासीनस्य पर्यङ्के कुम्भकर्णो महाबलः ।
भ्रातुर्ववन्दे चरणौ किं कृत्यमिति चाब्रवीत् ॥६-६२-८॥
athāsīnasya paryaṅke kumbhakarṇo mahābalaḥ |
bhrāturvavande caraṇau kiṃ kṛtyamiti cābravīt ॥6-62-8॥
Translation
Then, the mighty Kumbhakarna bowed to the feet of his brother who was seated on the couch/throne, and asked, 'What is to be done?'

तदनंतर महाबली कुम्भकर्ण ने पलंग (पर्यंक/सिंहासन) पर बैठे हुए भाई के चरणों की वंदना की और पूछा—'क्या कार्य (करना) है?'
English Commentary
Kumbhakarna observes the etiquette of a younger brother by touching Ravana's feet. Immediately following this respect, he gets down to business: 'Kim krityam' (What is the task?). This shows he is ready for action and awaits orders. Despite his sleepiness, his warrior instinct is sharp.

कुम्भकर्ण का शिष्टाचार। रावण के बैठने के बाद, उसने बड़े भाई के पैर छुए ('ववन्दे चरणौ')। इसके तुरंत बाद उसने एक सैनिक की भाँति प्रश्न किया—'किं कृत्यम्' (क्या करना है/क्या आदेश है)? वह भूमिका नहीं बाँधता, सीधे कर्तव्य की बात करता है। यह उसकी निष्ठा और तत्परता का प्रमाण है।
