रावण का प्रेम उमड़ पड़ा। उसने कुम्भकर्ण को गले लगा लिया ('परिषस्वजे')। एक राजा द्वारा सार्वजनिक रूप से ऐसा आलिंगन भाई के प्रति उसके गहरे लगाव और वर्तमान संकट में उसकी आवश्यकता को दर्शाता है। कुम्भकर्ण का भी यथोचित सत्कार ('अभिनन्दितः') किया गया।
