तस्य राक्षसराजस्य निशम्य परिदेवितम् ।
कुम्भकर्णो बभाषेदं वचनं प्रजहास च ॥६-६३-१॥
tasya rākṣasarājasya niśamya paridevitam |
kumbhakarṇo babhāṣedaṃ vacanaṃ prajahāsa ca ॥6-63-1॥
Translation
Hearing the lamentation of that King of Rakshasas, Kumbhakarna laughed and spoke these words.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस राक्षसराज (रावण) का विलाप सुनकर कुम्भकर्ण हंसा और यह वचन बोला।
English Commentary
Kumbhakarna's laughter highlights the irony of the situation. Ravana, once the conqueror of the three worlds, is now lamenting in fear. Kumbhakarna, though a loyal brother, laughs cynically at the gravity of the situation and the past mistakes of his brother. This laughter signifies an absence of fear and an awareness of inevitable destiny.

कुम्भकर्ण का हंसना परिस्थिति की विडंबना को दर्शाता है। रावण, जो कभी त्रिलोक विजेता था, आज भयभीत होकर विलाप कर रहा है। कुम्भकर्ण, यद्यपि रावण का भाई है, स्थिति की गंभीरता और अपने भाई की पूर्व में की गई भूलों को देखकर व्यंग्यात्मक हंसी हंसता है। यह हंसी भय की अनुपस्थिति और नियति के ज्ञान का प्रतीक है।
