यदि वा कार्यमेतत्ते हृदि कार्यतमं मतम् ।
स सुहृद् यो विपन्नार्थं दीनमभ्यवपद्यते ॥६-६३-२७॥
yadi vā kāryametatte hṛdi kāryatamaṃ matam |
sa suhṛd yo vipannārthaṃ dīnamabhyavapadyate ॥6-63-27॥
Translation
Or if you consider this task to be the most important duty in your heart (then do it). He is a true friend who helps one who has lost his wealth and is distressed.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अथवा यदि तुम इस कार्य को अपने हृदय में अत्यंत कर्तव्य मानते हो (तो करो)। वह मित्र है जो विपत्ति में पड़े और दीन हुए व्यक्ति की सहायता करता है।
English Commentary
Ravana gives an emotional definition of friendship and brotherhood. A true companion is one who doesn't abandon you in bad times, regardless of whose fault it is.

रावण मित्रता और भाईचारे की भावनात्मक परिभाषा देता है। सच्चा साथी वही है जो बुरे वक्त में साथ न छोड़े, भले ही गलती किसी की भी हो।
