तदुक्तमतिकायस्य बलिनो बाहुशालिनः ।
कुम्भकर्णस्य वचनं श्रुत्वोवाच महोदरः ॥६-६४-१॥
taduktamati kāyasya balino bāhuśālinaḥ |
kumbhakarṇasya vacanaṃ śrutvovāca mahodaraḥ ॥6-64-1॥
Translation
Having heard those words of the exceedingly large-bodied, powerful, and mighty-armed Kumbhakarna, Mahodara spoke as follows.

अत्यंत विशालकाय, बलवान और पुष्ट भुजाओं वाले कुम्भकर्ण के उन वचनों को सुनकर महोदर ने यह कहा।
English Commentary
Kumbhakarna had just finished his speech where he criticized Ravana's initial decisions but offered his strength for the war. Mahodara, a cunning and sycophantic minister, now intervenes. Unlike the straightforward warrior Kumbhakarna, Mahodara relies on deceit and manipulation to please Ravana. This interaction highlights the internal dynamics of the Rakshasa court, where flattery often clashes with blunt honesty.

कुम्भकर्ण ने सभा में रावण की नीतियों की आलोचना की थी और अपने पराक्रम के बल पर युद्ध का उत्तरदायित्व लिया था। यहाँ महोदर का प्रवेश एक चतुर और चाटुकार मन्त्री के रूप में होता है। महोदर रावण का अत्यंत प्रिय पात्र है और वह कुम्भकर्ण के स्पष्टवादी स्वभाव के विपरीत कूटनीति और छल का सहारा लेने वाला है। यह संवाद लंका की राजसभा में व्याप्त विभिन्न विचारधाराओं के टकराव को दर्शाता है।
