एवमुक्त्वा तु संरब्धः कुम्भकर्णं महोदरः ।
उवाच रक्षसां मध्ये रावणं लोकरावणम् ॥६-६४-१९॥
evamuktvā tu saṃrabdhaḥ kumbhakarṇaṃ mahodaraḥ |
uvāca rakṣasāṃ madhye rāvaṇaṃ lokarāvaṇam ॥6-64-19॥
Translation
Having spoken thus to Kumbhakarna, the agitated Mahodara stood amidst the Rakshasas and addressed Ravana, the one who causes the worlds to cry.
हिंदी अनुवाद
कुम्भकर्ण से ऐसा कहकर, अत्यंत उत्तेजित महोदर ने राक्षसों के बीच खड़े होकर सम्पूर्ण लोकों को रुलाने वाले रावण से यह बात कही।
English Commentary
After silencing Kumbhakarna, Mahodara turns his attention to Ravana. The epithet 'Lokaravana' describes Ravana as the tormentor of the worlds. Mahodara is now poised to present his 'superior plan,' which pivots from direct combat to cowardly deception. This transition marks the moral and strategic bankruptcy of Ravana's council.

महोदर ने कुम्भकर्ण को चुप करा दिया है और अब वह सीधे रावण को संबोधित कर रहा है। रावण के लिए 'लोकरावण' विशेषण उसके उस स्वभाव को दर्शाता है जिसके कारण संसार पीड़ित था। महोदर यहाँ अपनी 'श्रेष्ठ योजना' प्रस्तुत करने जा रहा है, जो युद्ध के मैदान से हटकर छल-कपट की गलियों में जाती है। यह लंका की सभा में कूटनीति के गिरते स्तर का परिचायक है।
