Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
लब्ध्वा पुनस्त्वं वैदेहीं किमर्थं सम्प्रजल्पसि ।
यदीच्छसि तदा सीता वशगा ते भविष्यति ॥६-६४-२०॥
labdhvā punastvaṃ vaidēhīṃ kimarthaṃ samprajalpasi |
yadīcchasi tadā sītā vaśagā tē bhaviṣyati ॥6-64-20॥
Translation
Having already obtained Sita (the princess of Videha), why do you continue to worry? If you so desire, Sita will surely come under your control.
हिंदी अनुवाद
आपने वैदेही (सीता) को प्राप्त तो कर लिया है, फिर आप व्यर्थ की चिन्ता क्यों कर रहे हैं? यदि आप चाहें, तो सीता आपके वश में हो जाएगी।
English Commentary
Mahodara targets Ravana's greatest weakness: his obsession with Sita. He dangles the hope of success without the risk of war, claiming Sita will eventually submit. This is the height of sycophancy, where a minister lures his king into a delusional sense of security even as the enemy is at the gates.

महोदर यहाँ रावण की सबसे बड़ी कमजोरी—सीता जी के प्रति उसके मोह—पर चोट कर रहा है। वह रावण को वह सपना दिखा रहा है जिसे रावण वर्षों से देख रहा था। वह यह दावा करता है कि युद्ध की आवश्यकता ही नहीं पड़ेगी। यह चापलूसी की वह सीमा है जहाँ एक मन्त्री अपने राजा को विनाशकारी भ्रम में डाल देता है।
