प्रविश्याश्वास्य चापि त्वं सीतां रहसि सान्त्वय ।
धनधान्यैश्च कामैश्च रत्नैश्चैनां प्रलोभय ॥६-६४-३१॥
praviśyāśvāsya cāpi tvaṃ sītāṃ rahasi sāntvaya |
dhanadhānyaiśca kāmaiśca ratnaiścaināṃ pralōbhaya ॥6-64-31॥
Translation
Then, approach Sita in private, comfort her, and tempt her with wealth, luxuries, and precious gems.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब आप सीता के पास जाकर उन्हें एकांत में सांत्वना दीजिये और उन्हें धन-धान्य, सुख-सुविधाओं तथा रत्नों का प्रलोभन दीजिये।
English Commentary
Mahodara advises Ravana to 'comfort' Sita, which is a cruel irony. He wants Ravana to exploit Sita's perceived vulnerability. Offering temptations is the final weapon of the demonic intellect when fear fails. Mahodara assumes that a woman grieving for her husband will succumb to material wealth and comfort.

महोदर रावण को 'सांत्वना' देने की सलाह देता है, जो वास्तव में एक क्रूर उपहास है। वह चाहता है कि रावण सीता जी की विवशता का लाभ उठाए। प्रलोभन (प्रलोभय) देना राक्षसी बुद्धि का अंतिम अस्त्र है जब भय काम न आए। महोदर को लगता है कि पति के वियोग के दुःख में डूबी नारी धन और सुख के सामने झुक जाएगी।
