अनयोपधया राजन् भयशोकानुबन्धया ।
अकामा त्वद्वशं सीता नष्टनाथा गमिष्यति ॥६-६४-३२॥
anayōpadhayā rājan bhayaśōkānubandhayā |
akāmā tvadvaśaṃ sītā naṣṭanāthā gamiṣyati ॥6-64-32॥
Translation
O King! By this deceitful tactic (Upadha) coupled with fear and grief, Sita, believing her protector is lost, will come under your control even against her will.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे राजन्! भय और शोक से जुड़ी इस चाल (उपाधि) से, अपने पति को खो चुकी सीता इच्छा न होते हुए भी आपके वश में हो जाएगी।
English Commentary
The term 'Upadha' signifies a fraudulent stratagem. Mahodara believes that Sita, as a 'Nashtanatha' (one whose protector is dead), will have no alternative. This reflects the limited demonic understanding, which fails to grasp the power of chastity and Dharma. They view women merely as objects of enjoyment and slaves to circumstances.

यहाँ 'उपाधि' या 'उपधा' शब्द का प्रयोग छल-कपट के लिए किया गया है। महोदर का मानना है कि 'नाष्टनाथा' (जिसका स्वामी नष्ट हो गया हो) सीता के पास और कोई विकल्प नहीं बचेगा। यह राक्षसों की उस संकुचित सोच को दर्शाता है जहाँ वे सतीत्व और धर्म की शक्ति को नहीं समझ पाते। वे स्त्री को केवल एक उपभोग की वस्तु और परिस्थितियों की दासी मानते हैं।
