एतत् सुनीतं मम दर्शनेन रामं हि दृष्ट्वैव भवेदनर्थः ।
इहैव ते सेत्स्यति मोत्सुको भूर्महानयुद्धेन सुखस्य लाभः ॥६-६४-३५॥
ētat sunītaṃ mama darśanēna rāmaṃ hi dṛṣṭvaiva bhavēdanarthaḥ |
ihaiva tē sētsyati mōtsukō bhūrmahānayuddhēna sukhasya lābhāḥ ॥6-64-35॥
Translation
In my view, this is the best policy. Merely facing Shri Rama could bring disaster. Therefore, do not be anxious; you will attain great happiness right here without even fighting a war.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मेरी दृष्टि में यही श्रेष्ठ नीति है। श्री राम का सामना करने मात्र से अनर्थ (विनाश) हो सकता है। इसलिए आप व्याकुल न हों, यहाँ बैठे-बैठे ही आपको बिना युद्ध किए सुख प्राप्त हो जाएगा।
English Commentary
Mahodara uses Ravana's fear as a shield, suggesting a cowardly bypass of the conflict. The lure of victory 'without war' is the ultimate delusion. He admits that facing Shri Rama means certain disaster ('Anarthah'). This verse confirms the paralyzing fear within the Rakshasa council, which they desperately try to mask as 'policy.'

महोदर यहाँ रावण के भय को ढाल बनाकर उसे कायरता का सुझाव दे रहा है। 'अयुद्धेन' (बिना युद्ध के) विजय का लालच सबसे बड़ा भ्रम है। महोदर जानता है कि श्री राम के सामने जाना मृत्यु को गले लगाना है। यह श्लोक लंका के मंत्रियों के भीतर व्याप्त उस गहरे डर को पुष्ट करता है जिसे वे 'नीति' के पीछे छिपा रहे थे।
