कुम्भकर्णो बृहत्कर्णः सुहुतो ऽग्निरिवाबभौ ।
श्रोणीसूत्रेण महता मेचकेन व्यराजत ॥ ६.६५.२९ ॥ अमृतोत्पादने नद्धो भुजङ्गेनेव मन्दरः ॥ ॥६-६५-२९॥

Translation
The large-eared Kumbhakarna shone like a well-fed fire. With a large black waist-band (zone), he looked resplendent like Mount Mandara bound by the serpent (Vasuki) during the churning for nectar.
हिंदी अनुवाद
बड़े कानों वाला कुम्भकर्ण अच्छी तरह आहुति दी गई अग्नि के समान चमक रहा था। वह कमर में बँधे हुए विशाल काले करधनी (श्रोणीसूत्र) से ऐसा सुशोभित हो रहा था, जैसे अमृत मंथन के समय वासुकि नाग (भुजंग) से बँधा हुआ मन्दराचल पर्वत।
English Commentary
A majestic simile. Kumbhakarna is compared to a blazing fire. The black belt around his waist evokes the image of the serpent Vasuki wrapped around Mount Mandara during the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan). This comparison emphasizes his colossal size, stability, and pivotal role in the upcoming 'churning' of the battlefield.

कुम्भकर्ण का तेज 'सुहुतोऽग्निः' (यज्ञ की अग्नि) जैसा था। उसकी कमर पर बँधा काला पट्टा ('मेचकेन श्रोणीसूत्रेण') उसे और भी भव्य बना रहा था। उपमा अद्भुत है—कुम्भकर्ण 'मन्दराचल' है और काला पट्टा 'वासुकि नाग'। यह उसके विशाल और स्थिर व्यक्तित्व को दर्शाता है।
