Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
धनुश्शतपरीणाहः स षट्छतसमुच्छ्रितः ।
रौद्रः शकटचक्राक्षो महापर्वतसन्निभः ॥६-६५-४१॥
dhanuśśataparīṇāhaḥ sa ṣaṭchatasamucchritaḥ |
raudraḥ śakaṭacakrākṣo mahāparvatasannibhaḥ ॥6-65-41॥
Translation
He was one hundred bows in width and six hundred bows in height. He was terrible, with eyes like cart-wheels, and resembled a huge mountain.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह सौ धनुष चौड़ा और छह सौ धनुष ऊँचा था। वह रौद्र (भयानक) था, उसकी आँखें गाड़ी के पहिये (शकट-चक्र) जैसी थीं और वह विशाल पर्वत के समान था।
English Commentary
Specific dimensions are given to visualize the giant. 600 bows high makes him a titan. 'Eyes like cart-wheels' conveys the monstrous scale of his features. This description serves to justify the terror he inspires in the Vanara army.

कुम्भकर्ण के विराट आकार का माप। 600 धनुष ऊँचा! (एक धनुष लगभग 4-6 हाथ होता है)। उसकी आँखें 'गाड़ी के पहिये' जितनी बड़ी थीं। यह अतिशयोक्ति उसकी अमानवीय शक्ति और विशालता को स्थापित करने के लिए है। वह सचमुच एक चलता-फिरता पहाड़ ('महापर्वतसन्निभः') था।
