ते तस्य घोरं निनदं निशम्य यथा निनादं दिवि वारिदस्य ।
पेतुर्धरण्यां बहवः प्लवङ्गा निकृत्तमूला इव सालवृक्षाः ॥६-६५-५६॥
te tasya ghoraṃ ninadaṃ niśamya yathā ninādaṃ divi vāridasya |
peturdharaṇyāṃ bahavaḥ plavaṅgā nikṛttamūlā iva sālavṛkṣāḥ ॥6-65-56॥
Translation
Hearing his terrible roar like the thunder of a cloud in the sky, many monkeys fell to the ground like Sala trees cut at the roots.
हिंदी अनुवाद
आकाश में बादल की गर्जना के समान उसके उस भयानक नाद (आवाज) को सुनकर, बहुत से वानर कटे हुए मूल (जड़) वाले साल के वृक्षों की तरह धरती पर गिर पड़े।
English Commentary
Sonic warfare. The roar alone knocks out many soldiers. Falling like 'root-cut trees' signifies instant collapse. This illustrates the overwhelming physical presence of Kumbhakarna, capable of incapacitating enemies without even touching them.
हिंदी टीका
कुम्भकर्ण की आवाज ही हथियार थी। उसकी गर्जना सुनकर ही कई वानर बेहोश होकर गिर पड़े ('पेतुः धरण्यां')। उनकी तुलना 'निकृत्तमूलाः' (जड़ से कटे) पेड़ों से की गई है, जो उनके पूर्ण पतन और असहायता को दर्शाती है।
