विपुलपरिघवान् स कुम्भकर्णो रिपुनिधनाय विनिस्सृतो महात्मा ।
कपिगणभयमाददत् सुभीमं प्रभुरिव किङ्करदण्डवान् युगान्ते ॥६-६५-५७॥
vipulaparighavān sa kumbhakarṇo ripunidhanāya vinissṛto mahātmā |
kapigaṇabhayamādadat subhīmaṃ prabhuriva kiṅkaradaṇḍavān yugānte ॥6-65-57॥
Translation
Holding a huge iron club, that great-souled Kumbhakarna went out for the destruction of enemies. He instilled terrible fear in the monkey troops, like the Lord (Yama) with his staff/punishment at the end of the yuga.
हिंदी अनुवाद
विशाल परिघ (हथियार) धारण किए हुए, वह महात्मा कुम्भकर्ण शत्रुओं के नाश के लिए निकला। वह वानर समूहों में अत्यंत भयानक भय उत्पन्न कर रहा था, जैसे युग के अंत (प्रलय) में दंडधारी यमराज (प्रभु) भय उत्पन्न करते हैं।
English Commentary
The sarga ends with the image of impending doom. Kumbhakarna represents 'Yuganta' (End of the Age/Apocalypse). Wielding his club, he is the embodiment of death. The comparison to Yama highlights that for the Vanaras, facing him is facing judgment day.

सर्ग का समापन कुम्भकर्ण के प्रलयंकारी रूप के साथ होता है। वह 'महात्मा' (महान वीर) है लेकिन शत्रुओं के लिए 'यमराज' ('प्रभुः') है। उसके हाथ में 'परिघ' है और वह वानरों के दिलों में दहशत भर रहा है। यह दृश्य महाविनाश की प्रस्तावना है।
