ततः स राक्षसो भीमः सुमित्रानन्दवर्धनम् ।
सावज्ञमेव प्रोवाच वाक्यं मेघौघनिःस्वनम् ॥६-६७-१०७॥
tataḥ sa rākṣaso bhīmaḥ sumitrānandavardhanam |
sāvajñameva provāca vākyaṃ meghaughanihsvanam ॥6-67-107॥
Translation
Then that terrifying Rakshasa, in a voice like the thundering of clouds, spoke with great disdain to Lakshmana, the enhancer of Sumitra's joy.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब उस भयंकर राक्षस ने बादलों की गर्जना के समान स्वर में सुमित्रानन्दन लक्ष्मण से बड़े तिरस्कार के साथ यह बात कही।
English Commentary
Kumbhakarna's arrogance is evident in his 'Savajnam' (disdainful) conduct. He perceives Shri Lakshmana merely as a youth or an insignificant foe. The depth of his voice ('Megha-nihsvanam') matches his physical might. He attempts to use speech to undermine Shri Lakshmana's morale.

कुम्भकर्ण का अहंकार यहाँ 'सावज्ञम्' (तिरस्कारपूर्ण) व्यवहार में दिखता है। वह श्री लक्ष्मण को केवल एक बालक या छोटा शत्रु मान रहा है। उसकी आवाज़ की गम्भीरता (मेघ-निःस्वनम्) उसके शारीरिक बल के अनुकूल है। वह संवाद के माध्यम से श्री लक्ष्मण के मनोबल को तोड़ने का प्रयास कर रहा है।
