Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्रगृहीतायुधस्यैव मृत्योरिव महामृधे ।
तिष्ठन्नप्यग्रतः पूज्यः किमु युद्धप्रदायकः ॥६-६७-१०९॥
pragṛhītāyudhasyāiva mṛtyoriva mahāmṛdhe |
tiṣṭhannapyagrataḥ pūjyaḥ kimu yuddhapradāyakaḥ ॥6-67-109॥
Translation
In a great battle, even standing before me when I am armed and like Death personified is worthy of honor; what then to say of offering me battle?
हिंदी अनुवाद
महान युद्ध में शस्त्र धारण किए हुए साक्षात् मृत्यु के समान मेरे सामने खड़ा रहना ही पूजनीय (प्रशंसनीय) है, फिर युद्ध करना तो बहुत बड़ी बात है।
English Commentary
Kumbhakarna compares his impact to that of 'Death' itself. He believes that even standing before him requires extraordinary courage. He views Shri Lakshmana's challenge as a significant feat. This portrays his demonic mindset where he considers himself omnipotent.

कुम्भकर्ण अपने प्रभाव की तुलना साक्षात् 'मृत्यु' से करता है। उसका मानना है कि उसके सामने खड़े रहने के लिए भी असाधारण साहस चाहिए। वह श्री लक्ष्मण की युद्ध की चुनौती को एक महान उपलब्धि मान रहा है। यह उसकी राक्षसी मानसिकता का चित्रण है जहाँ वह स्वयं को सर्वशक्तिमान समझता है।
