Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
द्वे शते वानरेन्द्राणां पतमानमपातयत् ।
तस्मिन् काले स धर्मात्मा लक्ष्मणो वाक्यमब्रवीत् ॥६-६७-१२९॥
dve śate vānarendrāṇāṃ patamānamapātayat |
tasmin kāle sa dharmātmā lakṣmaṇo vākyamabravīt ॥6-67-129॥
Translation
That falling peak (shattered pieces) fell upon two hundred leading monkeys and brought them down. At that time, the righteous-minded Lakshmana spoke these words.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह गिरता हुआ शिखर (टुकड़े होकर) दो सौ वानर श्रेष्ठों पर गिरा और उन्हें धराशायी कर दिया। उस समय धर्मात्मा लक्ष्मण ने यह बात कही।
English Commentary
Even the fragments of the peak caused damage to the Vanara host, illustrating the collateral brutality of war. Shri Lakshmana's intervention here is vital. He is 'Dharmatma' (righteous) and observes the situation with keen detail. He is about to suggest a strategy that will facilitate Kumbhakarna's end. This verse marks the transition toward tactical dialogue.
