स चापमादाय भुजङ्गकल्पं दृढज्यमुग्रं तपनीयचित्रम् ।
हरीन् समाश्वस्य समुत्पपात रामो निबद्धोत्तमतूणबाणः ॥६-६७-१३८॥
sa cāpamādāya bhujaṅgakalpaṃ dṛḍhajyamugraṃ tapanīyacitram |
harīn samāśvasya samutpapāta rāmo nibaddhottamatūṇabāṇaḥ ॥6-67-138॥
Translation
Taking His bow which was like a serpent, with a firm string, terrifying and adorned with golden designs, and reassuring the monkeys, Shri Rama—having fastened His excellent quiver and arrows—leaped forward.

सर्प के समान (विषैले/भयानक), सुदृढ़ डोरी वाले, भयंकर और सुवर्ण के चित्रों से सजे धनुष को लेकर, वानरों को आश्वासन देते हुए, श्री राम अपने तरकश और बाणों को बांधकर उछल पड़े।
English Commentary
Comparing the bow to a 'Bhujanga' (serpent) illustrates its lethal potential and its fatal nature for the enemy. Its description as 'Tapaniyachitram' (adorned with gold) testifies to its divine and royal origin. Shri Rama's act of 'Samashvasya' (reassuring) reveals His compassionate nature; He cannot bear the suffering of His troops.

धनुष की तुलना 'भुजङ्ग' (सर्प) से करना उसकी मारक क्षमता और शत्रु के लिए उसके घातक होने को दर्शाता है। 'तपनीयचित्रम्' (सोने से अलंकृत) होना उसके दिव्य और राजसी होने का प्रमाण है। श्री राम का 'समाश्वस्य' (आश्वासन देना) कार्य उनकी करुणामयी प्रकृति को दिखाता है कि वे अपने सैनिकों का दुःख देख नहीं सकते।
