जिह्वया परिलिहन्तं शोणितं शोणितेक्षणम् ।
मृद्नन्तं वानरानीकं कालान्तकयमोपमम् ॥६-६७-१४३॥
jihvayā parilihantaṃ śoṇitaṃ śoṇitekṣaṇam |
mṛdnantaṃ vānarānīkaṃ kālāntakayamopamam ॥6-67-143॥
Translation
Licking blood with his tongue, with blood-red eyes, and trampling the Vanara army, he resembled the God of Death at the end of time.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अपनी जीभ से रक्त चाटते हुए, लाल नेत्रों वाले और वानर सेना को कुचलते हुए वे साक्षात् प्रलयकाल के यमराज के समान लग रहे थे।
English Commentary
Licking blood ('Parilihantam') signifies his primal and Tamasic satisfaction. 'Shonitekshanam' (blood-red eyes) is a marker of his extreme fury. The analogy to Yama (Death) proves that for the Vanaras, he had become the physical embodiment of their end. This sight further justifies the necessity of his imminent destruction by Shri Rama.

जीभ से रक्त चाटना (परिलिहन्तम्) उसकी पाशविक और तामसिक तृप्ति को दर्शाता है। 'शोणितेक्षणम्' (रक्तवर्ण नेत्र) उसके चरम क्रोध का परिचायक है। यमराज की उपमा यह सिद्ध करती है कि वानरों के लिए वह मृत्यु का साक्षात् अवतार बन चुका था। यह दृश्य श्री राम के द्वारा किए जाने वाले संहार के औचित्य को और प्रबल कर देता है।
