पुरस्ताद्राघवस्यार्थे गदायुक्तो विभीषणः ।
अभिदुद्राव वेगेन भ्राता भ्रातरमाहवे ॥६-६७-१४६॥
purastādrāghavasyārthe gadāyukto vibhīṣaṇaḥ |
abhidudrāva vegena bhrātā bhrātaramāhave ॥6-67-146॥
Translation
For the sake of Shri Rama, Vibhishana, armed with a mace, rushed with great speed toward his brother Kumbhakarna in the battle.

श्री रघुनाथ जी के हित के लिए, हाथ में गदा लिए हुए विभीषण युद्धभूमि में अपने भाई कुम्भकर्ण की ओर बड़े वेग से दौड़े।
English Commentary
This scene depicts the ultimate conflict between Dharma and familial ties. Shri Vibhishana, to prove his loyalty to Shri Rama, takes up arms against his own brother. This testifies to his status as a 'Dharmatma', where the protection of Truth necessitates the sacrifice of personal relationships. It is a poignant moment where two brothers face each other on opposite sides of morality.

इस प्रसंग में धर्म और कुल के बीच के द्वंद्व का चरमोत्कर्ष दिखाई देता है। विभीषण जी ने श्री राम के प्रति अपनी निष्ठा सिद्ध करने के लिए अपने सगे भाई के विरुद्ध शस्त्र उठा लिया है। यह उनके 'धर्मात्मा' होने का प्रमाण है, जहाँ सत्य की रक्षा हेतु व्यक्तिगत संबंधों का त्याग अनिवार्य हो जाता है। यहाँ एक भाई दूसरे भाई के सम्मुख खड़ा है, किन्तु उनके मार्ग विपरीत हैं।
